Monster Girl Extravaganza Day 9!

Taking me a bit to get through these, but here we have FabioKun with Phoenix Girl Evolution

First of all, tell us a little about yourself? Online or Offline.

I’m Fabio, pen name FabioKun - a name that will haunt me forever from my 15 year old self.  I do not blame him, but he could have done a better job. I’m a student in the electrical field and well not much else to say. Aspiring Author hoping to share the joy of my creations with other people.

Where does your inspiration come from? What childhood books, or movies were your biggest draw?

I’ve read a lot of xianxia/isekai novels/mangas/webtoons etc. My biggest inspirations were Jobless Reincarnation, TBBTE, A Will Eternal and really all of Er Gen’s books. I didn’t read much when I was a child - curse of being Gen Z - but I did watch a lot of TV shows and cartoons/anime.

Avatar the last airbender being a big example of what has marked my childhood.

What was your first story on Royal Road and how did it grow you and your brand from there?

My first story on RR was ‘That time I reincarnated as a vampire’ renamed to ‘Vampire Reincarnation’ but I don’t have any brand to speak of. It did poorly on RS and even more poorly as I kept releasing chapters. I will, of course, keep writing it and my love for it has not decreased one bit.

The exciting part, tell us about this newest release?

Phoenix Girl Evolution is the story of Fa Xiaolan - a powerful cultivator who loses against the Jade Emperor and sends fragments of her soul to another world  where she is reincarnated as a phoenix chick. It’s meant to be a relatively light hearted, gritty xianxia with the monster girl evo as the driving piece.

What made you choose to tell this particular story?

I was bullied into it by a few fellow authors but then I realised there were no phoenix xianxia or phoenix-adjcent and I told myself - “Fuck it we ball.”

What have you learned with previous writing that you’ve harnessed here?

Ie what is your writing process?

Be consistent, stick to your gut, try and try again until you get something you like, get shredded by people who know it better than you, take their feedback and advice, filter it to it suits your vision, and start over.

What is your biggest regret with writing? Or your hardest lesson learned?

I don’t have regrets, but a lesson I learned was listening to your best and studying what you want to write. Immerse yourself into it, absorb every bit of information and take inspiration.

If you could tell our new authors 3 things that helped you get to where you are today, what would they be?

I dare not say anything, but my biggest advice is read. Read until your eyes bleed and most importantly, enjoy the process.
